Operational plans for the remediation of Certosa Island approved
On Thursday, 9 June a Local Planning Conference held at Cà Farsetti (chaired by Mariano Carraro of the Veneto Region and coordinated by Commissioner Vincenzo Spaziante) approved the operational plans prepared by Thetis for the remediation of Certosa Park.
The project will employ innovative techniques, including the use of plants to remove heavy metals from contaminated soils (rhizodegradation).
The solution proposed by Thetis was supported because it ensures achievement of the project’s remediation, human health and environmental protection objectives.

The project design criteria adopted were:
-Compatibility with the redevelopment project for the island and the island’s natural features;
-Preference for remediation methods that were the least invasive (low environmental footprint) in terms of morphological changes, alteration of the characteristics of the subsoil, and soil excavation and transport;
-Ease of implementation and management, and sustainability of the costs.
