Thetis - knowledge for a better environment

During the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the UN climate change organization that created the Kyoto Protocol) summit held in Venice on 17 July, 2009, the Venice International University (VIU) presented the volume “Sustainable Development and Environmental Management – Experiences and Case Studies” during a round table discussion that included presentations by numerous international experts, which was attended by Dr. Corrado Clini, the Director General of the Ministry of the Environment. The book was published under the aegis of the Italian Ministry of the Environment and edited by the VIU as part of the SICP, Sino Italian Cooperation Programme for Environmental Protection, initiated between the Italian and Chinese Ministries of the Environment in 2000. The publication is a collection of presentations by various scientific and technological experts who have participated in SICP, and covers the numerous issues addressed in the cooperation programme, including: air quality management, water cycle management, agriculture, sustainable mobility and many other areas.
