Thetis at Bionova 2005
Thetis will be at Bionova 2005 to be held from 20th to 22nd April 2005 at PadovaFiere, with its own stand in the area reserved for the Regione Veneto (Regional Office of Veneto). The event has been organised by PadovaFiere SpA, CNBB, Assobiotec, and Farmindustria, with both the participation and involvement of the EU. It provides an excellent opportunity for making technological, scientific and economic–financial comparisons and covers five large exhibition areas, i.e. chemical-pharmaceutical, diagnostics, the environment, agroindustrial, and bioengineering.
Thetis will present a poster entitled "BIOMIT: development and application of gnomic biotechnologies in mussels for controlling coastal environments and food supplies" (C. De Pittà – C.R.I.B.I., Padua University; P. Venier and L. Varotto – Biology Department, Padua University; A. Barbanti, E. Delaney, C. Nasci – Thetis SpA; G. Lanfranchi – C.R.I.B.I., Padua University). The poster summarises the aims of the research project, namely to transfer the advanced, innovative molecular and genomic biology technologies already applied within the biomedical sphere to study and monitor coastal environments. It uses Mytilus galloprovincialis both as a biosensor and to control the quality of mussels used for human consumption.
