Thetis involvement in the STADIUM project

Thetis, a company that already has significant experience in producing ITS systems for large events due to work it performed for the recent Beijing Olympics, is among the high-profile technological partners for the STADIUM (Smart Transport Applications Designed for large events with Impacts on Urban Mobility) project. This project, involving international cooperation, is part of the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme, headed by the Research DG, the Directorate-General for research and development that, in addition to Europe, involves India and South Africa.
STADIUM uses ITS (Intelligent Transport System) applications to improve the performance of public transport service systems that are expanded for large events. The objective is to provide the various relevant players with guidelines that will assist them in selecting the most appropriate ITS applications.
The project, which began in May and is coordinated by ISIS (a transportation research and consulting institute with headquarters in Rome), will have a duration of four years and will involve 17 partners from eight countries; these partners represent all of the sector’s principal aspects, including transport companies, industries in the sector, universities and research centres.
