Thetis Participates in European Project Called CVIS (Cooperative Vehicle-Infrastructure Systems)
Thetis takes part in the CVIS Project, coordinated by ERTICO, a European company dedicated to the implementation of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Services (ITS), for sustainable mobility, technological innovation and safety.
The main objective of the CVIS project is increasing road efficiency and safety and reducing the environmental impact of transportation networks. This goal is pursued by developing the concept of open and inter-operative systems based on a standard open source technology: each vehicle equipped with a “CVIS system” must be capable of utilizing any application in any part of Europe where a CVIS-compatible road infrastructure is available.
Thetis is involved in the following activities within the Project:
CURB (Cooperative Urban Applications): Thetis will develop solutions for the use of bus priority lanes by other users (taxis, private cars, …)
Italy (test development): provides for the practical realization of the solutions developed within the CURB project. This activity will be carried out in Bologna in cooperation with the ATC - Azienda Trasporti Pubblici di Bologna (Bologna Public Transportation Agency)
CF&F (Cooperative Fleet and Freight Applications), providing for the design of a monitoring system for carriers of hazardous freight. This project will study the methods of information exchange between European countries concerning the transit of hazardous freight. It also provides for the study of a system capable of furnishing alternative routes should any unforeseen events prevent the use of the planned route.
The project was started in February and will require four years to complete.
