Assessment of the impact of climate change on urban coastal regions

From Monday 12 September to Thursday 15 September, Thetis hosted the international conference “Improving the Capacity to Assess and to Adapt to Climate Change in Urban Coastal Regions”. The by-invitation conference provides an important opportunity to analyze and discuss the timely topic of the impact of climate change on urban coastal regions. Organized by the Venice Water Authority through its concessionary Consorzio Venezia Nuova with the assistance of Thetis and the Sustainability Solution Institute at the University of California at San Diego, the event brings together experts from around the world to exchange knowledge and discuss the best methods to assess the impact of climate change on coastal urban regions and identify suitable adaptation measures for development.
In this context, Venice provides an important case study as, in addition to being a city of international prominence, it is striving to become a model of sustainable management and climate change adaptation in coastal urban regions.
On 15 September, Thetis held a press conference to present the results of the conference, as well as the closing declaration of the international experts regarding the future prospects of Venice and urban coastal regions in general.
