Thetis is one of the promoters, as our company is directly involved in organising the presence of Venetian companies at the event. For more information: http://en.expo2010.cn/
Venice candidacy, sponsored by the Venice Foundation, is promoted by Venice Town Council and managed by engineering company Thetis S.p.A, with the contribution of Sistema. The exhibition shall be devoted to examples of successful urban transformation in cities, and take place in the Urban Best Practices Area. This 15 hectare area of warehouses converted into exhibition areas for cities, is located within the 5.28 km² exhibition space which will accommodate exhibitors, events, forums etc.. Expo will be open in Shanghai from 1st May to 31st October 2010, and house 200 international exhibitors. The forecasted presence of visitors is around 70 million. The Venetian candidacy features topics such as the transformation of Porto Marghera following the agreement for both chemicals and construction of the new Vega or Arsenale pole to accommodate the company founded to promote it, the Arsenale di Venezia S.p.A., the Venice Biennial and Thetis S.p.A..
Besides these, there are a few smaller, but strategic areas of the city, comprising the Giudecca where new companies are located, as well as the free port warehouses in San Basilio, recovered for public and university purposes, and the island of San Servolo, with Venice International University. A city as unusual as Venice and its terra firma, is a difficult, fragile area, but also rich in resources. Over the past few years, the fabric of the city has undergone and indeed continues to undergo significant transformations. Participation at Expo 2010 is an opportunity for international exposure and to spark discussions about key issues, such as the future of sustainability and the quality of life in the fabric of the city and new urban agglomerates in continuous evolution.
