Towards Expo Milan 2015
Thetis is a signatory partner of Comitato Expo Venezia, which has organized two important events for Tuesday, 17 May, that will inform Venice about the Milan Expo 2015. At 11:30 there will be a welcome address by officials at the Province of Venice’s main office followed by the opening of an exhibition and at 15:00, at Confindustria Venezia’s offices in Marghera, there will be a workshop entitled “Towards Expo Milan 2015” featuring presentations by local authorities and Giuseppe Sala, the Chief Executive Officer for Expo 2015 S.p.A.
The fact that Venice was chosen as the first stop in Italy on the Expo 2015 “Road Show” (which will tour Italian cities and subsequently international cities) demonstrates Comitato Expo Venezia’s strong interest in the event and its collaboration with the company. The theme of the Expo is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. The objective of the meeting in Venice is to learn first-hand about the Expo’s themes and discuss variations on the themes that could offer potential opportunities for collaboration among regional businesses and environmental and cultural organizations. It should also be mentioned that the City of Milan, the City of Venice, the Lombardy Region and the Veneto Region have signed Memorandums of Understanding for the 2015 Universal Exposition.
Comitato Expo Venezia was responsible for organizing the Venice Pavilion for the Shanghai Expo 2010 in the Urban Best Practices section and has a “China Desk” that continues to maintain the relations it established in Shanghai. Thetis actively participated in Comitato Expo Venezia’s work, coordinating Venice’s candidacy for the Shanghai Expo, producing informational material on topics within its realm of expertise, organizing a Workshop on the environment (one of the training courses arranged by the Chamber of Commerce’s Foreign Trade Centre and Ca’ Foscari University for the Shanghai Expo), and participating in the Environmental Mission.
