Thetis in India and Japan for business missions and remediation of the Ganges River

23 September 2011 – Thetis is once again offering its expertise to India. After taking part in a sustainable mobility project in New Delhi, the Venice-based company is currently participating in a business mission to India, organized by the Veneto Chambers of Commerce’s Foreign Trade Centre.

The business mission, which was organized by the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will last until 1 October. Designed to develop economic relations between Italy and India, it involves a series of meetings and round table discussions in Mumbai and Pune. Thetis’ Fabio Pinton will also participate in a workshop on remediation of the Ganges River, sponsored by the Indian Ministry of the Environment and Forests and organized by the Indian Institute of Technology. The purpose of the event is to identify solutions that will provide a basis for developing a remediation plan for this majestic Indian river. Pinton will discuss Thetis’ experience in managing environmental projects in the delicate Venice Lagoon ecosystem.
Thetis also has an important role in the current “Venice in Japan 2011” mission. Specifically, the company is the centre of a new international network established to develop coastal best practices. Maria Teresa Brotto, CEO of Thetis, stated: “With the international conference on climate change that we hosted in mid-September, our company has become a leader in mitigating the impacts of climate change in coastal areas – experience that can also be applied to Japanese coasts, which will have to confront the problem of sea level rise in the future”. Pierluigi Rossetto, Head of Engineering Management, is representing Thetis in the Far East. The mission, which ends tomorrow, involves numerous companies from a variety of sectors based in the Province of Venice and provides an opportunity to meet potential commercial and/or industrial partners in Japan through B2B meetings organized by the Tokyo office of the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade.
