Capitalizing on the company’s expertise in environmental engineering and the professional experience of several of its collaborators, Thetis has developed an Energy Division that provides consulting and services in the field of energy and climate sustainability.
The Energy Division is dedicated to continuing Thetis’ mission to implement models and systems that encourage sustainable development by safeguarding the environment and common resources while contributing to a shift in the energy sector towards a reduction in the impact of human activities on the climate.
For all energy-consuming sectors, the primary steps that must be taken to make their activities sustainable are:
• Reducing energy consumption by improving energy efficiency;
• Using renewable energy sources to cover all or part of their energy needs;
• Using high-efficiency technologies (i.e. cogeneration, heat pumps) to cover their remaining energy needs;
• Offsetting excess emissions through trading schemes.
To help companies achieve these objectives, Thetis offers consulting and specialized services in the following areas:
• Assistance in finalizing energy and climate sustainability policies;
• Studies and plans relating to energy efficiency in the civil, industrial and transport sectors;
• Studies and plans relating to calculating, monitoring and reducing CO2 emissions;
• Assistance in trading CO2 allowances, green certificates and white certificates;
• Feasibility and design of renewable energy power plants;
• Feasibility and design of geothermal, cogeneration and district heating plants.
Thetis makes use of a web-based relational data base to integrate information from various sources, utilizes GIS (Geographic Information System) tools and produces models based on DSS systems (Decision Support Systems).
The company collaborates with various universities, ministries, local authorities and research institutes and is a member of FIRE (Federazione Italiana per l’uso Razionale dell’Energia or the Italian Federation for the Rational Use of Energy).
