Management plan for the “drainage basin, lagoon and sea adjacent to the lagoon” hydrographic subunit
The objective of the Study is the development of the River Basin Management Plan (RBMP) of the Venice lagoon, its watershed and the adjacent coastal area, according to Directive 2000/60/CE.The Directive 2000/60/EC, better known as the Water Framework Directive, tasks Member States with identifying hydrographic districts and designating competent authorities to apply the regulations of the directive within each district. Each hydrographic district prepared within 2009 its own Management Plan.
Main contents of the RBMP prepared within this Study are the analysis of human pressures and impacts on surface and groundwaters, the definition of protected areas, the description of monitoring networks, the classification of water bodies and the definition of quality objectives, the definition of the programs of measures to be adopted to reach the objectives. The report presents all data relating to the water quality of the water bodies and their classification; data were also organized in a format compatible with the Water Information System for Europe (WISE).
Technical assistance to the Strategic Evaluation Assessment (SEA) of the Plan was also provided (Environmental Report and Consultation Phase)
