Delivery of the AVM system (Automatic Vehicle Monitoring) for the service management of the some 450 buses running on the peripheral lines of Rome, which correspond to the 20% of the city bus service. The system is intended to provide GPS localization and real time service monitoring and management, as well as service reporting and comparison of actual vs planned service. Service is paid per km based on AVM data reports and actual service quality performances with respect to the planned service.The AVM system consists of a control centre equipped with a redundant server and 11 client stations, 7 depot data collection systems that exchange data with the vehicles via Wi-Fi and some 450 bus on-board systems. The software provided is the Thetis eBUS suite.
The on-board systems include the UPL 090 embedded computer with these main functions: GPS localization and comparison of actual vs planned service; GPRS, UMTS, WiFi and Ethernet communicatin; video surveillance with 4 TV cameras and onboard recording; management of LED internal and external panels and automatic next stop audio announcement; bus data collection via the CANbus. The computer is connected to the DIT 090 driver terminal; to the APC 090 passenger coutners and to the UMB 090 multimedia unit featuring double screen TV for ads display and service information.
The contracted services include system assistance and maintenance for 8 years.
