Commissioned: EC DG Research for Specific International Cooperation Actions- SICA

Period: 2009-2012

Country: Cina

The objective of VIAJEO, a joint project involving various international partners, is to create, test and confirm the efficacy of an open platform that supports scheduling and daily operational activities for urban transport companies and provides a wide range of information services for those who need to circulate in urban environments.

The key to the system is the integration and management of data from various sources. More specifically, VIAJEO seeks to offer users a platform that permits the multimodal dynamic planning of intra-urban transport, thereby supporting mobility.
The platform will be developed, implemented and used for a 6-month trial period in four cities: Beijing (China), Shanghai (China), Sao Paulo (Brazil) and Athens (Europe).
The objectives of the project are to:

1 Develop an open platform that can interface with a wide range of mobility services;

2 Implement the open platform in Europe and in emerging economies, such as China and Brazil;

3 Confirm the efficacy of the open platform;

4 Assess the social and transportation impacts resulting from the implementation and trial run of the open platform.

The VIAJEO project involves representatives of agencies and authorities that manage traffic and urban transport, public transportation users, technology producers, and research institutes in the countries involved.
Thetis is coordinating the Beijing project, which involves the following partners:
