CONTAMINANTE will open at 5:30 pm on Friday, 20 May at Spazio Thetis. An evocative atmosphere featuring performances and discussion will provide the backdrop for the opening of an exhibition of installations by two artists: Alfredo Romano (from Syracuse), with his monumental work "Madonnine", and Maurizio Elettrico (from Naples), with his extraordinary flying creations that evoke the idea of a journey.
Curated by TheSeven, “Contaminante” is a contemporary story in images, divided into twelve chapters dispersed throughout urban Venice – every chapter has a title composed of twelve letters, with each letter corresponding to one of the twelve semitones. Spazio Thetis is hosting Step No. 5, which was conceived by Elisabeth Sarah Gluckstein (an expert in regional and landscape revitalization/redevelopment) in collaboration with Giorgio Persano Gallery in Turin. The work celebrates the union of the fundamental elements of the Earth and the heavens, and corresponds to the Sol semitone.
The Contaminante project began with the idea that history, like myths and fables, provides a poetic and sociological tool for reflecting the world, without necessarily explaining it.
The talk/concert "Suoni dal Confine" is planned for the opening. Curated by Leandro Pisano, it is an original event that brings together soundscapes and cultures, particularly those of Italy and Japan.
The musicians that will fill Spazio Thetis with music include, Enrico Coniglio, a guitarist and composer who records and evokes the environment, and Yasuhiro Morinaga, who has been hailed by critics as a "sound artist and "sound designer".
The event was organized in partnership with the Teatro Fondamenta Nuove.
Exhibition hours: Monday through Friday, 10:00 - 18:00
