Thetis prepared the feasibility study and provided technical assistance for the preparation of the tender documents regarding the VTMIS (Vessel Traffic Management and Information System) for the Port of Rijeka in Croatia.
The system was designed to reduce incident risk and prevent environmental damage as well as increasing port efficiency. Technologies include radars, cameras, an AIS station and a control centre at the Rijeka Port Authority.
Thetis then won the tender for the design of the entire system for navigation monitoring along Croatian coasts (CVTMIS), within the EuropeAid – Phare 2005. CVTMIS contributes to the creation of a European traffic monitoring system in accordance with Directive 2002/59/EC.
The work carried out by Thetis for CVTMIS took into consideration environmental protection and port efficiency. Technologies include radars, radio direction finders, remote control cameras, AIS stations, meteo stations, a national control centre plus various regional centres, all integrated with the port management systems of Rijeka, Ploče and Split and the European SafeSeaNet.
