Preparation of a report on the state of the Venice Lagoon Ecosystem through the collection and systematic management of data and information, according to the DPSIR (Driving forces, Pressure, State, Impact, Responses) approach. The study used an interdisciplinary perspective to analyze and integrate numerous informational sources, databanks, and technical and scientific documentation, with particular attention to information produced between 2000 and 2005. Data and information was considered and selected from studies, research projects and monitoring programs conducted by various local and international organizations and companies.A report divided into ten volumes, corresponding to ten different topics, was prepared. The volumes, which feature images and bibliographic sources, are subdivided into the following:
- trophic state;
- contamination from micropollutants and the related risks to human health and the lagoon ecosystem;
- morphological evolution;
- sediment dynamics and their risk to human health and the lagoon ecosystem;
- environmental condition of the historic centre and the surrounding areas;
- environmental condition of the area surrounding Porto Marghera;
- natural resources and biodiversity;
- landscape;
- the local impact of global climate change;
- sustainable development of the lagoon territory.
