The project was financed by MIUR (Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca) with the principal objective of realising a decision-support system (DSS) and a relative software prototype, called DESYRE (DEcision Support sYstem for the REqualification of contaminated sites) capable of guiding users in the planning of environmental requalification interventions on contaminated sites and in the selection of site-specific reclamation options. In the context of the project, Thetis participated in the conceptual definition of the DSS and, in particular, handled the development of the computer component, which consisted of a variety of modules. This activity required the use of GIS software and the relative development and customisation languages.
The project is currently in an advanced phase of realisation, DESYRE being largely defined in its components and implemented in terms of software. At the same time, Thetis is engaged in providing support for the calibration and corroboration of the software on case studies selected within the nationally important contaminated site of Porto Marghera.
