The aim of the study, sponsored by the Regional Council of Veneto is that of producing the necessary evaluation for the policy-makers to choose the most appropriate concept for the recovery of the whole waterway which has become critical to the local logistical system. The study analyses the logistical and economic aspects tied to the link between the road-rail distribution hub and the Venetian port system.In the first part of the study, the condition of the waterway is assessed, and the main operational and institutional bodies involved are identified, contacted and interviewed, to define the system of interests and expectations.
In the second part, the alternatives are defined (completion of the waterway, realisation of an equipped, multi-mode axis, and divestment) and the procedure is drawn up, including the management and administrative procedures.
