As a complement to SIMNAV, an integrated telematic port monitoring and management system was prepared with the specific objective of increasing and improving the Port of Venice’s operability and safety. STIM stands for Sistema Tecnologico Integrato di Monitoraggio (Integrated Technical Monitoring System). In accordance with the Port Authority of Venice and in collaboration with the company Nethun, Thetis identified and proposed solutions and technology for: the monitoring and operational management of navigation, for both the port inlets and the lagoon, and the management of port activity, for navigation safety and the facilitation of access to the port and the use of the docks in a manner that increases the port’s operability and competiveness.SIMNAV and STIM therefore constitute two important complementary and synergistic elements for improving port management and navigation in the area of Venice.
