Design, development and turnkey supply of a GPS tracking and fleet management system for the 600 trucks of AMSA, the garbage collection Company of Milan, Italy.The system is composed of on-board computers, a central system and an off-line service analysis software. The on-board computers are removable and collect truck position data during their daily service as well as driver-entered data relating to garbage container substitution requests, for example, and other intervention and maintenance requests relating to urban services managed by AMSA.
All daily data logs are sent automatically to the central system via a GPRS communication link. Planned and actual service data are compared by the off-line software and intervention requests are automatically filed and served by the maintenance crew. The contract includes a 5-year long turnkey maintenance service.
