Venice Biennale of Architecture Spazio Thetis opens to the city and to the international scene with an important new project “Something now for the future” based on the sharing of art, culture and nature for a social and renewed ethic lifetime. With this focus were chosen three solo exhibitions: “Michelangelo Pistoletto. The third Heaven – Cultivating the City”; “Marica Moro. Genesis second day” and “Earth, Light, Architecture. The journey of a grain of sand. Rossella Gilli” which have as their common denominator the strengthening of the relationship between man and nature. The work of the Third Paradise – Cultivating the City, conceived and curated by Fortunato D’Amico along with nova civitas, Cittadellarte, and made upon the symbol of the Third Heaven by Michelangelo Pistoletto, is a regeneration symbol of the territory which houses it and, specifically, it offers a place for sharing, participation and education to environmental awareness. It is a structure with three circles, placed in the large garden and built with over 1800 bricks recently discovered on site. The installation evokes the mathematical sign of infinity and is surrounded by a large garden for whose planting and caring will be involved children, young people, schools, adults, seniors and many associations of the city, knit together as a metaphor in the cultivation of a new growth . The vision of Thetis shared by Pistoletto addresses the need to look to the past to move forward, to make the breakthrough, the leap that brings us to a better future and to ensure mankind’s survival on a new level of planetary civilization. Marica Moro and Rossella Gilli’s exhibitions converse with the Third Heaven – Cultivating the city and are related to the themes of La Biennale and “Something for the future now.” Marica Moro showcases the monumental sculpture Genesis2, placed in the garden, whose subject evokes the man’s birth from the earth’s lap and its inextricable link with it. Earth, light and architecture. The journey of a grain of sand. Rossella Gilli exhibits paintings that elaborate the relationship between nature and architecture and the ever evolving civilization. “Something now for the future” provides along the time a series of important and significant exhibitions, conferences, symposia and meetings on environmental issues, eco-sustainability and technological innovation that have the objective of recreating a harmonious relationship between nature, man, architecture and progress. Thetis always promotes and supports contemporary culture and creativity through initiatives that gave birth to fruitful synergies with national leaders and international institutions, museums, foundations, galleries, academies, curators, artists, architects, landscape architects, writers and musicians related by the common search for a new relationship between man and nature. Over the years Thetis builtan important collection with works by several artists including Jan Fabre, Beverly Pepper and Pinuccio Sciola that are now exhibited in the outdoor spaces. With “Something now for the future” Spazio Thetis strengthens its identity as a place of cultural contamination where it is possible to learn and exchange ideas, enhance the art, architecture and culture by offering tools to gain a greater awareness and create new perspectives between tradition and innovation.
