A new mission of Thetis to Asuncion (Paraguay) is starting under the contract with Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) for the preparation of a Recovery Plan of the lake Ypacaraì

lagoThe lake Ypacaraì – one of the main touristic resources and historical and cultural icon of the country – suffers from a condition of strong eutrophication which prevents touristic use, generates health problems and threatens the entire ecosystem and the economy of the territory.

The experts from Thetis will work with local experts to the definition of environmental rehabilitation actions to be analyzed in the Plan: construction of sewerage systems and treatment plants, wastewater management of livestock activities, dredging of the sediments of the lake, etc. The effects of the identified actions on the quality of the lake water will be analyzed using hydrological, hydrodynamic and ecological models developed by Thetis at the scale of the entire drainage basin.
