Thetis will provide and maintain for a period of 9 years the AVM system and related systems for the management of public bus transport in Malta for its client Arriva Malta Ltd. Arriva Malta was awarded the public transport contract in Malta following an international tender bid that listed Thetis as the provider of the technological systems. Thetis will provide an AVM system, electronic ticketing system and a system for managing three parking areas for buses and private vehicles. The AVM system is composed of: • Client server control centre • Monitoring stations in the offices of the Public Transport Authority • On-board computerized systems for 264 buses, equipped with GPS positioning, GPRS and Wi-Fi communication, driver’s terminal, passenger counter, video surveillance and recording system with 4 cameras, audio announcements stating the next stop, interior LED screen displaying the next stop and management of exterior LED screens. • 93 electronic information boards to indicate bus arrival times • 5 electronic screens to display bus departure times at the main terminals The electronic ticketing system is composed of: • Terminals for on-board ticket sales • On-board ticket validator • Terminals for selling tickets and passes at authorized agencies • Automated machines for off-board ticket sales • Central client server system for comprehensive management The system for managing the three parking areas for buses and private vehicles is composed of: • Staffed and automated pay stations; • Entrance and exit gates featuring electronic controls and barriers; • Central client server system for comprehensive management.
